Tin is coming to Liskeard

Film Night. "Tin"- Friday 2nd October at Liskeard.

Great news, the 'Tin' film night has been confirmed- and has a suprise bonus.

This should be s great evening to look forward to-  A chance to see the new Film 'Tin' and enjoy a question and answer session with its director Bill Scott.

Friday 2nd of October at the Liskerett Comunity Centre Liskeard. £2 entry for Trevithick Society Members who requested tickets. £4 for non-members.

West Cornwall 1895. A once glorious tin mine, on which the whole town has depended for generations, is on its last legs. A weather-beaten opera company arrives to give a performance of Beethoven's "Fidelio" in the town hall and finds itself tangled up in a scam to offload worthless shares in the mine.

Starring Jenny Agutter, Dudley Sutton,Dean Nolan, Jason Squibb

The film starts at 7:30PM and runs for about an hour and a half.

A visit to a gunpowder works-5th September 2015

Saturday September 5th 11AM  

Trevithick Society visit to the Herodsfoot Gunpowder works  at Deer Park Forest Holidays.

 A chance to view some newly discovered Edwardian Artefacts, and explore the industrial archaeology of this historic site. Meet at the Cafe SX206 608.

There may be also the opportunity for an extension to the visit to view a nearby lead mine (to be confirmed on the Day).

21st June- A great chance to join in uncovering some history

On Sunday 21st there us a chance for members to help in some Scrub Clearance on an industrial archaeological site near St. Austell. This is to access the 6 parallel wooden rail lines and associated tanks/drainages. It will then be photographed for the archives and left to grow over again. There is also some  fascinating machinery remains on the site. 
 
Meet at Innis Downs roundabout (A391 exit) at 0930hrs. Bring any tools (loppers, slash hooks, forks) and packed lunch. Please leave a comment on this page if you intend to come along, or drop me an email on the East Cornwall Branch email address shown in the newsletter.
