Trevithick Day Saturday: 30th April down Camborne and Sunday 1st May Open Day at King Edward Mine, at Troon, nr Camborne - lots of steam in action, engines everywhere and live museum.
The AGM
Being run in our area this year, a weekend of events and a chance to meet other members.
Friday 13th May
Talk and walk by Martin Summers on the site of The South East Cornwall Gunpowder Works.
Meet at cafe 7 pm , Herodsfoot, Deer Park Holiday Camp, PL14 4QY OS – SX 197 604. Please wear stout shoes. The terrain is variable. Part of the walk is gentle, with paths, and part is rough with forest track. Parking is available on site, in a small car park on approach road, and outside the site office.
Saturday 14th May
Visit to Herodsfoot Mine
Meet at 10.00am at Liskeard Station Lower Car Park for mini bus transportation to North Herodsfoot Mine. There is no parking available in this steep sided valley, or at landowners home, hence free transportation has been arranged. Please bring pack lunch and drink. Please wear stout shoes as terrain can be rough, and be respectful of Richard and Francis’s property and home. We plan to vacate the site at approx 2.30pm
Saturday, 14th. May. A.G.M. at Hannafore Point Hotel. West Looe 5-00pm.
Annual Dinner at the hotel 7pm...…see menu and booking forms.
Sunday 15th May
Visit to Devon Great Consols Mine 10.30 am – meet at Wheal Josiah chimney.
Guide- Rick Stewart, mine manager at Morwellham and well known author on local history and mining Map grid SX 42595 73557, meeting at the chimney.
June 11th East Caradon Mine talk-walk and social.
Talk by John Manley: Fortune or fraud? A year in the life of the East Caradon Mine,
Followed by the chance to have some refreshments and lunch and then a exploration of the mine.

Saturday 29th October walk 10.30am to approx 3.30pm. Introducing Wheel Benny- A guided walk around the Luckett area by Steve Docksey, experienced guide and local historian. Car parking in the village is very limited, and so not to create too much disturbance to the village, a meeting point in a car park suitably close is to be arranged, (details to follow), car sharing to the village of Luckett will then ease the parking in the village and show respect for those that live there.
